Hi
My name is Michael Heasley and I
breed Irish Setters under the kennel
name Pella Irish Setters. Pella Irish
Setters is located on 24 rugged rural
acres in Western Pennsylvania. With a
mixture of hardwood forest, white pine
forest and open areas it is a wild life
haven. It abounds with deer, turkey,
ruffed grouse, and many other species of
wild life. All in all a wonderful place to
raise sporting dogs like Irish Setters.
I bought my first Irish Setter in 1979, but Pella Irish Setters didn't get started until July 1984 when I purchased my foundation bitch Highland Durin
Class Act (Mandy Ch. Kingscourt Franklin Durin x Ch. Durin's Daily Double). Mandy was co-bred by Carmen Hufstettler of Durin Kennels and
was a Ch. McCamon Marquis granddaughter. Mandy was bred to Stoneypoint Loriens Quest, a litter brother to BIS Ch. Stoneypoint Ruff Rider.
This litter produced my first champion AKC & SKC Ch. Pella's Fire From Heaven CD, JH, VC, CGC (Flame). Flame finished his championship
breeder/owner handled except for the last major. Among his wins was 1st place in the Bred by Exhibitor class at the 1992 national, and 2 breeds
over specials from the bred by class. After finishing his Ch. he earned a CD title and then at 11 years of age he earned a Junior Hunter title. He
was my pride and joy, constant companion and my best friend until he went to the Rainbow Bridge November 10, 1999. He was a once in a lifetime
dog, and I miss him terribly.

In 1988 I purchased a bitch that would become Ch. Loriens Special Delight CD (Lori Ann, Ch. Rusticwood Olympic Medalist CD x Ch. Lorien's
Southern Starflower). In 1996 Lori Ann was bred to Am. & Can Ch. Quailfield's Mak'n Business to produce the Pella Crime Litter.
This litter of 6 has already produced 5 Champions. The first 4 finished with at least 2 Specialty majors. The first to finish was Multi BISS and Group
winning Ch. Pella's Prince of Thieves. Flash finished in 4 shows, all Best of Breed over Specials for majors. Two of these were Best in Specialty
wins, the last two were All Breed Bests of Breed over specials. He took the last one all the way to a Sporting Group I and a 5 point major to finish.
Multi BISS and Multi Group Placing Ch. Pella's Crime Boss was the second to finish. Guido finished in 6 shows, one Specialty Best of Winners, one
Best in Specialty and 4 All Breed Bests of Breed. Three of these Bests of Breed were followed by Group Placements. Ch. Pella's Crime of Passion
finished next. Bonnie started her career with a Specialty Best of Opposite Sex from the 6-9 month puppy class at the Indianapolis Specialty and
finished it with a Best of Opposite Sex over Specials at the Irish Setter Club of Jacksonville for a 5 point major. Her brother Ch. Pella's Crime
Buster was winners dog at the Irish Setter Club of Jacksonville for his 3rd Specialty Major and he finished the next day at the Ocala show going
Best of Winners. Buster finished all from the Bred By Exhibitor Class. Ch. Pella's Partner in Crime (a.k.a. Clyde) finished his Championship all
from the Bred By Exhibitor Class after waiting until he was 5 1/2 years old to start his show career. Pella's Perfect Crime (Lizzie Borden) has 2
points and will be resuming her show career this fall. When she finishes the Pella Crime Litter will be 100% Champions and Ch. Loriens Special
Delight CD will get to add ROM to her name.

Also waiting their turn in the show ring are Pella's Hellfire and Damnation (Mike Jr.) and his daughter Pella's Smoke from a Distant Fire (Roxie).
"The Saturday Night Live" litter was born July 13, 2002. They are by Ch. Pella's Partner in Crime and out of Pella's Let the Games Begin. Five of
these are in show homes and we are expecting big things from them. One, Pella's Land Shark, already has a major reserve, going reserve to his
father. Pella's Mr. Bill has recently moved to San Diego to star in infomercials.
Our latest litter the Pella Gangster Litter was born July 15, 2003. These 5 little criminals (3 boys and 2 girls) are by Ch. Pella's Partner in Crime
and out of Ch. Pella's Crime of Passion. The pick male was sent to Barbara Wollenhaupt of Lorien Irish Setters and I am keeping the pick bitch.
At this point they look spectacular.
My emphasis has been in producing dogs, which are healthy, sound and good moving, with proper breed type, good temperaments, trainability and
bird sense. I have been a member of ISCA since 1988, and a member of the Irish Setter Club of Ohio, New Castle Kennel Club and Golden
Triangle Irish Setter Club since 1995. I am currently the Vice President of GTISC after being President for 3 years and have held various offices
in other dog clubs. I am also an AKC Apprentice Hunting Test Judge and an Obedience Instructor.
